Charlotte & Jack’s Laid-Back Horniman Museum Wedding & Pub Party

Some weddings just scream *effortlessly cool*, and Charlotte & Jack’s big day at the Horniman Museum Conservatory was exactly that. A sun-soaked ceremony, a dreamy glasshouse backdrop, a courtyard drinks reception, and a confetti explosion in front of a picture-perfect pergola? Yes, yes, and YES. Oh, and let’s not forget the afterparty at The Lordship pub—because what’s better than pints, good food, and a dance floor that did. not. stop?

A Love Story That Started With Work Buddies & Lockdown Love

Charlotte & Jack’s story is the kind of modern romance that gives you all the warm fuzzies. They met at work in 2016, bonded over office banter, and—fast forward—survived lockdown together in a tiny, garden-less flat in Peckham Rye (true love is making it through that, right?). That little challenge led them to fall head over heels for East Dulwich, which became the perfect setting for their wedding day.

A Glasshouse Ceremony at the Horniman Museum Conservatory

If you haven’t been to the Horniman Museum & Gardens, put it on your must-visit list. It’s one of those hidden London gems that feels like stepping into a Victorian dream, complete with a stunning glass conservatory that makes for a *ridiculously* photogenic ceremony spot.

On the day, the sun did us all a solid and beamed down on Charlotte & Jack as they said their ‘I dos’ under the light-filled roof of the conservatory. It was emotional, it was joyful, and it was full of those little moments that make my job as a documentary wedding photographer an absolute dream. Think: teary-eyed guests, stolen glances between the couple, and so much laughter.

Confetti, Cocktails & Courtyard Chilling

After the “we’re officially married!” moment, we headed outside for a proper confetti-throwing extravaganza in front of the pergola—because no London wedding photographer can resist a good action shot of people joyfully pelting the newlyweds with petals. Charlotte & Jack’s guests delivered on this *big time*.

From there, it was all about celebratory drinks in the courtyard. The atmosphere? Utterly relaxed. The vibes? 10/10. Guests mingled, laughed, and enjoyed some top-tier floral styling from Blossom & Threads (seriously, those flowers were *chef’s kiss*).

Feasting & Partying at The Lordship Pub

With everyone nicely warmed up (read: slightly tipsy), we made our way to The Lordship, aka the *perfect* London wedding reception pub. If you’re looking for a venue with delicious food, plenty of space for all your mates, and a laid-back, intimate feel, this place delivers.

The speeches were a rollercoaster of emotions—hilarious, heartfelt, and occasionally teary (Jack, I’m looking at you). Bridesmaids, the best man, and the couple themselves all gave speeches that had the room cracking up one minute and welling up the next.

Then came the dancing. And let me tell you, this dance floor *did not* mess around. DJ Billy Morris brought the energy, and guests absolutely went for it.

Charlotte & Jack’s Review (because they’re absolute gems)

“I couldn't imagine my wedding day without Gemma. She is the perfect combination of professional, caring and friendly which helped with the nerves! She went out of her way to make us feel comfortable while also ensuring we got all the shots we wanted. The photos turned out perfectly and we'll treasure them forever! Thank you Gemma.”

(Excuse me while I get all emotional over here.)
