Kieran & Alice's Oaks Farm Wedding – A Laid-Back Love Story with Vintage Rides, Hidden Ducks & A Whole Lotta Heart
Ahhh, Kieran & Alice – where do I even start?! These two absolute gems tied the knot in November, and let me tell you, their wedding was one for the books. As a documentary wedding photographer, I’m all about capturing the real, unfiltered moments, and this day was packed full of them. So, buckle up for a ride through their incredible day – vintage cars included!
Getting Ready – The Calm (ish) Before The Party
The day kicked off at Alice’s parents' house, where the bridal prep was in full swing. There’s something about those quiet, giggly moments before the ‘I do’s that always get me – the anticipation, the last-minute lipstick touch-ups, and the occasional ‘where’s my other shoe?!’ chaos. Alice was an absolute vision, her makeup flawlessly done by **Elise Ingram (@eingrammua)** and hair styled to perfection by **Lisa Miller (@perfectweddinghairkent)**. Meanwhile, the guys were somewhere else, probably trying to figure out how to fold a pocket square correctly.
A Love-Filled Ceremony at St John's Church, West Wickham
Then it was time to hit the road – cue the vintage cars! Alice arrived at St John’s Church, the very place where she grew up and built her faith, making this moment even more special. The ceremony? Oh, it was beautiful. Personal vows, heartfelt singing, and just the right amount of happy tears. There’s nothing like capturing a couple as they lock eyes at the altar – that ‘oh my god, this is actually happening’ moment is always gold. And let’s not forget the epic confetti throw outside – nothing screams ‘just married’ like getting pelted with petals!
Oaks Farm – Rustic Charm & Secret Ducks
After the ‘I do’s, we made our way to Oaks Farm in Shirley for the reception. If you’re looking for a venue with gorgeous gardens and rustic barn vibes – this is it. It was the perfect backdrop for Kieran & Alice’s laid-back but super fun celebration.
One of my absolute favourite parts? The games! Pegging guests with secret clothespins and hiding miniature ducks around the venue – pure genius. Nothing like a bit of sneaky competition to keep the guests entertained.
The speeches had everyone laughing, crying, and laughing-while-crying. From Alice & Kieran’s sweet words to each other, to the heartfelt toasts from Alice’s Maid of Honour, Kieran’s Best Man, and Alice’s dad – it was a masterclass in how to do wedding speeches right. No pressure for future wedding speakers, but… yeah, take notes.
Dancing, Feasting & Partying Like Pros
Let’s talk about food – because, honestly, that’s what we all really care about. The incredible spread from 10 Flavours had guests raving, and let’s just say that Alice & Kieran’s favourite part of wedding planning (aka the food tasting) totally paid off.
After dinner, the party really kicked off thanks to DJ Si-Tunes (situnesentertainment.co.uk). The first dance? An absolute moment. The father-daughter dance? Not a dry eye in sight. And from that point on, it was dancefloor chaos – the best kind.
To top it all off, there was an epic photo booth by Vividbooths (vividbooths.co.uk), capturing guests in their best/worst (delete as appropriate) states as the night went on.
Happily Ever After – But Make It Real
Alice & Kieran’s wedding wasn’t just about the big, beautiful moments – it was about the little ones too. The side glances, the belly laughs, the ridiculous dance moves. These two have that rare, effortless kind of love – the kind built on friendship, inside jokes, and, apparently, an unwavering tolerance for living and working together without wanting to strangle each other.
Their review sums it up perfectly:
“Gemma is amazing! Her style of photography was perfect for us and she made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera! Her pictures are beautiful and we’ll treasure them forever.”
Alice & Kieran, thank you for letting me be part of your incredible day. Here’s to a lifetime of fish & chips on the beach, accidental job coincidences, and always remembering, remembering the 5th of November.
