Tythe Barn Wedding Photographer
Vibrant, colourful wedding for Nicole & Jacob at the incredible Tythe Barn Bicester. A venue that combines rustic charm with effortless style.
We are so grateful to Gemma for her stunning photography of our special day. She was very discreet, incredibly warm and relaxed — and made us feel at ease in front of the camera (coming from a relatively camera-shy couple!). She went above and beyond and we couldn’t recommend her enough. Thank you!!
Nicole & Jacob’s Stunning Wedding at Tythe Barn Bicester, Launton
There are certain weddings that truly take your breath away, and Nicole & Jacob’s celebration at the beautiful Tythe Barn in Launton was no exception. As a London documentary wedding photographer, it's my job to capture the magic of each moment as it naturally unfolds, and this wedding was overflowing with so many heartfelt memories that tell a beautiful story.
The day began with an outdoor ceremony in front of the barn, framed by a stunning floral display created by the talented Honey Bunch. The pink and orange flowers added a vibrant touch to the rustic backdrop of the barn, setting the perfect stage for Nicole & Jacob’s vows.
One of the most touching moments was seeing Nicole’s mother give her away. The deep connection between them was palpable, and you could feel the love in the air. Nicole and Jacob incorporated a special unity candle ceremony, lighting a candle together as a symbol of their new life as one. These intimate moments are what make documentary wedding photography so powerful—it allows the raw emotions of the day to shine through in every shot.
After the ceremony, guests showered the newlyweds with confetti in front of the barn, creating vibrant and joyful scenes, perfect for storytelling wedding photography. There was plenty of time for relaxed, candid photos as guests mingled during the drinks reception, toasting the happy couple and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the venue.
The wedding breakfast began with a heartfelt blessing from Jacob’s grandfather, followed by moving and often hilarious speeches from the best man, bridesmaids, and Nicole’s mum. Capturing the laughter and tears in the room reminded me once again why I love documentary wedding photography—it’s all about those real, unscripted moments.
As the sun began to set, guests were treated to Aperol Spritzes, a lovely way to kick off the evening festivities. Nicole & Jacob cut their cake with smiles that lit up the room, and soon the dance floor was full of energy and celebration. From the romantic first dance to the lively crowd joining in, every moment was a reminder of how special this day was.
As a London wedding photographer, it’s such a privilege to be part of weddings like Nicole & Jacob’s at Tythe Barn. The venue’s rustic charm, combined with the couple’s unique style and the love that filled the air, made for the perfect setting for storytelling wedding photography. Every glance, every tear, and every laugh was a piece of their love story, beautifully captured to be cherished forever.
If you’re looking for a documentary wedding photographer who will capture the essence of your day, wherever you are—from London to the countryside—let’s chat. I’d love to tell your story through authentic, candid photography.
Nicole & Jacob, thank you for allowing me to be part of your special day—it was truly unforgettable.
Botleys Mansion Wedding Photographer
A stunning manor house wedding for Molly & Daniel at the gorgeous Botleys Mansion in Surrey. A wedding day with a classic, timelessly elegant vibe.
Hi Gemma! Just wanted to say a huge thank you for the photos – they’re absolutely stunning, and you’ve captured every moment so beautifully! We’ve been looking through them non-stop and reliving the day all over again. You have such an incredible talent, and we’re so grateful you were there with us. Thank you for giving us these amazing memories! ❤️
Molly & Daniel’s Spectacular Wedding at Botleys Mansion
As a London documentary wedding photographer, I’m lucky enough to capture unforgettable celebrations across some of the UK’s most stunning venues. Molly & Daniel’s wedding at Botleys Mansion in Surrey was one of those days that felt like magic from beginning to end. This grand Palladian mansion is more than just a beautiful backdrop – it’s an experience. Its grandiose architecture, opulent interiors, and sweeping green parkland create a fairytale setting, perfect for couples who want an elegant celebration with a sprinkle of timeless charm.
Bridal Prep in the Mansion
Our day started in the luxurious bridal suite at Botleys, where Molly, her bridesmaids, and her mum gathered, all buzzing with excitement. The atmosphere was light and joyful as the talented Hollie Noelle worked her magic with hair and makeup, making each woman glow. The champagne flowed, laughter filled the room, and there was that wonderful mix of pre-wedding jitters and pure happiness.
A First Look with a Twist
Now, this was something special! Instead of a traditional first look with the groom, Molly had a “first look” with her groomsmen, and it was nothing short of adorable. The guys’ reactions were priceless – equal parts awe and sheer joy as they saw Molly in her dress for the first time. It was one of those moments that felt entirely unique to this wedding and showcased just how loved and adored Molly is.
Ceremony in the Atrium
The ceremony was held in Botleys’ stunning glass-ceilinged atrium, a light-filled space that felt both grand and intimate. As Molly walked down the aisle, you could feel the emotion in the air. The personal vows were deeply moving, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. This room has a way of drawing everyone together, amplifying the love and sentiment in a truly special way.
Confetti Moment Down the Mansion Steps
After the ceremony, Molly and Daniel made their grand exit down the steps of the mansion. Friends and family showered them with confetti as they emerged, laughing and waving to their guests. It was such a joyful moment, and Botleys Mansion’s magnificent facade made it feel even more dramatic – like a scene from a classic film.
Cocktails, Canapés & Mini Golf
With the ceremony done, it was time for cocktails, canapés, and a bit of fun! Guests sipped on drinks while enjoying a round of mini golf on the lawn. It was the perfect way to relax and let everyone’s personality shine, bringing out the best in friends and family as they cheered each other on.
Wedding Breakfast in the Atrium
Back in the atrium for the wedding breakfast, the space had been transformed. With beautifully arranged flowers, soft lighting, and stunning decor, it was like stepping into a dream. Every detail had been carefully considered, and the entire room had this gorgeous, romantic glow. Speeches were heartfelt and hilarious – a wonderful mix of laughter and happy tears.
The Cake by Le Papillon
The cake-cutting was another beautiful moment. Le Papillon’s creation was a showstopper, a stunningly crafted piece that looked almost too good to eat. Almost! As Molly and Daniel cut into it, the smiles on their faces were infectious, a perfect sweet moment for such a sweet couple.
Golden Hour in the Parkland
Golden hour was approaching, and we couldn’t miss the chance to capture Molly and Daniel in Botleys’ beautiful parkland. With the soft golden light, rolling green hills, and the mansion as a backdrop, it was a photographer’s dream. These moments felt serene, capturing the two of them wrapped up in their own little world amidst the grandeur around them.
First Dance with Smoke & Fireworks
The first dance was pure magic. Molly and Daniel shared the dance floor, surrounded by soft smoke and sparkling fireworks, creating a scene that was nothing short of breathtaking. The band, Brightmore Motown, set the perfect vibe, bringing everyone to their feet with energy and soul. It was a high-energy start to a night that felt just as electric.
Fireworks & Sparkler Exit
Just when we thought the night couldn’t get better, an incredible fireworks display lit up the sky in front of the mansion during blue hour. Guests watched in awe, each firework illuminating the sky in celebration of Molly and Daniel’s love. And finally, a sparkler exit! They made their way through the cheering crowd, faces glowing in the light of sparklers, a final dazzling memory to cap off a perfect day.
Molly & Daniel’s wedding at Botleys Mansion was the epitome of elegance, joy, and unforgettable moments. For a London documentary wedding photographer, it was everything I could ask for – a spectacular venue, a beautiful love story, and a day full of genuine, heartfelt moments that I had the privilege of capturing. If you’re considering a Botleys Mansion wedding, trust me – you won’t be disappointed. It’s a place where dreams come alive.
Advice from a documentary wedding photographer: your wedding morning
Everything you ever needed to know to plan for the perfect morning on your wedding day - from how much time you need to who to have with you!
London Documentary wedding Photographer spills all on how to have a great wedding morning!
How to Plan the Perfect Wedding Morning: Bridal Prep, Groom Prep, and Everything in Between
Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life, and as a documentary wedding photographer in London, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless weddings, each as unique as the love stories they celebrate. The morning of your wedding sets the tone for the rest of the day – it’s a time for excitement, anticipation, and a few butterflies in the stomach! Planning your morning well ensures that you can soak up every moment while keeping the day running smoothly. Here’s how to make the most of your wedding prep, from the bridal suite to the groom's space.
1. Set the Atmosphere
Start your day in a calm, positive space. Whether you’re getting ready in a luxurious London hotel or the comfort of your family home, make sure the environment is relaxed. Play your favourite playlist, light candles, or keep the vibe upbeat with your bridal party. For grooms, the same applies! Create a space that reflects your personality – whether it’s calm or filled with banter.
As a London documentary wedding photographer, my role is to capture these intimate moments candidly – the laughs, the quiet reflection, and the emotions that come naturally when you're surrounded by your loved ones. The atmosphere you create will shine through in the photos, offering real storytelling wedding photography that captures the heart of your day.
2. Have a Realistic Timeline
It’s tempting to think you have all morning to get ready, but wedding mornings can fly by. Work with your planner or maid of honour to create a schedule that allows plenty of time for each part of your prep: hair and makeup, getting dressed, and those final touches.
For brides, consider starting hair and makeup earlier than you think. This way, there's extra time for any touch-ups and a relaxed window for those dreamy bridal portraits. Grooms, you’ll want to allow time for getting dressed, some relaxed group shots with your groomsmen, and maybe even a cheeky whiskey toast.
3. Prepare Your Details for Photography
I love capturing the details that tell the story of your day, from the dress and shoes to the cufflinks and invitation suite. Having these items ready in the morning allows me to photograph them without interrupting the flow of your prep. It also means you get beautifully composed shots of those meaningful items that add a personal touch to your wedding story.
Pro tip: lay everything out in one spot so your London documentary wedding photographer can quickly capture those detail shots while you focus on enjoying the morning.
4. Surround Yourself with the Right People
On the morning of your wedding, you want to be surrounded by people who bring positivity and keep you calm. Whether it’s your best friends, siblings, or parents, having the right support around you will make your morning feel less like a production and more like a celebration.
As a candid wedding photographer, I love photographing these moments – the spontaneous laughter, the nerves, and the genuine emotions that unfold naturally. The more relaxed and supported you feel, the more these authentic moments will shine in your photos.
5. Create a Moment for Yourself
In the whirlwind of wedding prep, it can be easy to forget to take a moment to breathe. Whether it’s a quiet minute to read a letter from your partner, sip a cup of tea, or just take in the view from your window, this moment of reflection will ground you.
From a storytelling photography perspective, these pauses are incredibly special. They add depth to the narrative of your wedding day and create opportunities for candid, emotive photos that you’ll cherish forever.
6. Groom Prep: Don’t Forget the Little Moments
While the bridal prep often takes centre stage, the groom’s preparation is just as important. Whether it’s tying a tie with the help of a best man, sharing a laugh over old memories, or putting on the cufflinks passed down from a father or grandfather, these moments deserve to be captured too.
Grooms, if you're having a quieter morning, or if your prep is more laid-back, that's totally okay! The beauty of documentary wedding photography is that it captures the day as it truly unfolds. These images will reflect the genuine connection you have with the people who are with you as you prepare for this life-changing moment.
7. Trust Your Wedding Photographer to Capture the Magic
By the time your wedding morning is underway, you’ve likely spent months planning every last detail. Now, it’s time to let go and trust the professionals to do what they do best. As your London wedding photographer, I’m there to capture your day as it naturally unfolds – no forced poses, no stiff smiles, just real moments of love, joy, and connection.
Your wedding is a story that deserves to be told in its most authentic form. Through candid wedding photography, I’m able to document those raw, unfiltered emotions that make your day unique. Every smile, tear, and embrace will be preserved in images that tell your love story beautifully.
Final Thoughts
Your wedding morning is the start of an unforgettable day, and with a little planning, it can be as seamless and joyful as you’ve always imagined. Whether you're preparing in a chic city venue or a countryside retreat, making space for genuine moments, quiet reflection, and spontaneous fun is the key to a relaxed and meaningful wedding prep.

Beckenham Garden Wedding Photographer
Sophie & Sam’s gorgeous day, vows at the church Sophie attended as a child followed by a reception at her parent’s house in Beckenham.
Sophie & Sam's Enchanting Back Garden Wedding in Beckenham
“Sam and I have just finished going through all the photos, and they are incredible!
Thank you so much for capturing the spirit of our wedding, all the the little detail photos you took of the food and flowers etc.
I can honestly say that you made our special day extra special!
Thank you so so much!”
There's something incredibly special about a wedding that blends nostalgia with new beginnings. Sophie and Sam's beautiful back garden wedding in Beckenham did just that. Getting married at the church Sophie grew up in followed by a reception under a marquee at her childhood home, every moment of their day was a testament to love, family, and friendship.
The day began at Sophie's family home with her mother and bridesmaids. Old school friend Elise Ingram, a talented make-up artist, worked her magic on Sophie. It was a morning filled with laughter, gentle music, and the comforting familiarity of home.
The ceremony took place at Sophie's beloved local church, a place where she had spent countless Sundays as a child. Sophie walked down the aisle, radiating happiness, arm in arm with her father, who looked every bit the proud father. Sam's face lit up as he saw her! The ceremony was a heartfelt blend of tradition and personal touches.
After the ceremony, everyone returned to Sophie's parents' house, where the back garden had been transformed into a stunning wedding venue. The marquee, draped with fairy lights and greenery prepared by her mother and grandmother, was a perfect setting for the celebrations.
A local gem, Fiona's Pantry, provided an amazing feast of tapas and paella. Perfect for such a sunny day! Guests mingled, laughed and cried at the speeches, and shared stories as the afternoon turned into evening. The night was capped off with an incredible performance by The Dons, one of my favourite wedding bands for getting everyone on the dance floor!
The day was filled with so many personal touches, like a sailing boat filled with drinks, a tribute to the sailing club at Cardiff University where Sophie and Sam first met.
Congratulations, Sophie and Sam. Here’s to many more sunsets, shared stories, and beautiful memories ahead.
Capturing moments like these is what makes being a documentary wedding photographer so rewarding. Every wedding has its unique story, and it's a privilege to document these unforgettable days. If you’re planning your wedding and want your special moments captured in a way that tells your story, I’d love to be a part of it.
The Baring, Old Marylebone Town Hall Wedding Photographer
EJ and William’s stylish intimate wedding at the Old Marylebone Town Hall followed by a private dinner at The Baring in Islington.
As a documentary wedding photographer based in London, I love all kinds of weddings, however, there’s nothing better than an intimate, authentic ceremony at my favourite London registry office; the Old Marylebone Town Hall.
William and EJ's wedding was a beautiful testament to love that blossomed during the lockdown, against all odds. Having met my partner during lockdown too, their story resonated deeply with me, as did their beautiful intimate city elopement with just a handful of their nearest and dearest.
The historic Old Marylebone Town Hall is a quintessential London landmark and always delivers a beautiful ceremony. Following their nuptials, we went for a leisurely stroll through the streets of Mayfair, stopping at some of their favorite spots along the way. As a documentary wedding photographer, my aim is to capture the genuine moments of joy, laughter, and connection that unfolded naturally throughout the day. From stolen glances exchanged beneath the sunlight to spontaneous bursts of laughter echoing through the cobblestone streets, every moment was a joy to capture.
For their reception EJ and William opted for an intimate lunch at a private dining room at The Baring in Islington, where we were treated to delicious food in a cozy setting filled with love and laughter.
It was an honour to be entrusted with capturing their love story, and I am grateful to have played a small part in documenting the beginning of their journey together as husband and wife.
As a top London wedding photographer I love days like these that make me feel like part of the family. Thank you EJ & William!
Holmes Hotel, Old Marylebone Town Hall Wedding Photographer
Kirsty & Martin’s wedding was a day filled with laughter, singing, dancing and so much joy. It was a testament to their love for music, fashion and the city of London.
As a documentary wedding photographer based in the heart of London, I've had the pleasure of witnessing countless love stories unfold against the backdrop of this vibrant city. However, Kirsty and Martin's wedding was truly something special – a celebration that perfectly encapsulated the essence of London chic.
The day began with the anticipation and excitement buzzing through the air as Kirsty and Martin prepared for their union in separate rooms at the elegant Holmes Hotel. Amidst laughter and heartfelt moments, I had the privilege of capturing the candid emotions that filled the air.
The relaxed evening ceremony took place at the historic Old Marylebone Town Hall, where Kirsty and Martin exchanged vows surrounded by their nearest and dearest.
From there, it was a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of Marylebone to the reception at The Residence, nestled within the Holmes Hotel. With its swanky nightclub vibes, it was the perfect setting for a night to remember.
The evening unfolded with heartfelt speeches from the groom and his best man, the latter delivering a performance that had everyone in stitches. Kirsty and Martin decided to bypass tradition, opting out of a first dance and cake cutting in favor of a more laid-back affair. An informal buffet featuring burgers and chips set the tone for a night of relaxed revelry.
But it was the entertainment that truly stole the show – a wedding band comprising the groom and his two brothers, accompanied by three professional female singers. The energy on the dance floor was electric as guests danced and sang along to their favorite tunes, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
As I reflect on Kirsty and Martin's wedding, I am reminded of why I love documenting love stories in this incredible city. Their day was a celebration filled with laughter, joy, and a sense of timeless elegance.
So here's to Kirsty and Martin, and to all the couples who choose to write their own unique love story. Cheers to love, cheers to London, and cheers to capturing the magic of it all through the lens of a documentary wedding photographer.

A Little Taste of the French Riviera
A beautiful real-wedding in the French Riviera.
Today, I'm here to take you on a journey to the picturesque Bastide Du Roy in the heart of Cannes, France, where I had the pleasure of capturing the fabulous wedding of Sandy and Eli. This dazzling day was an explosion of multicultural marvels, natural beauty, and dance-floor debauchery. So, fasten your seatbelts and prepare to be wowed!
One of the joys of being a destination wedding photographer is witnessing the seamless blend of cultures that love brings together. Sandy and Eli's nuptials were a harmonious fusion of Lebanon, Syria, France, and Canada. Picture the rich tapestry of traditions, customs, and flavors coming together like a symphony of love. The day was an ode to their roots, all set against the backdrop of the exquisite French Riviera. The only thing brighter than the Mediterranean sun was the love these two shared, and it was an absolute joy to document.

With its Provencal charm and a dash of French chic, it provided the perfect canvas for a wedding photographer's dream. As a destination wedding photographer specialising in documentary, natural wedding photography with an editorial edge, my goal is to capture the essence and emotions of the day. Sandy and Eli's multicultural celebration was a perfect playground for me to combine these styles. The Old Marylebone Town Hall is one of my favourite spots of a London city elopement or wedding. Here’s my top reason why I think it’s a great choice, and how I can help you get stunning naturual wedding photographs here.
Today I’d love to tell you all a little bit about one of my favourite places for London town hall weddings. If you're planning a London elopement or a city chic registry office wedding, you're in for a treat because I'm about to spill the beans on why the Old Marylebone Town Hall in Mayfair, London, is hands down one of my absolute favourite venues to photograph in. As a top London wedding photographer with a passion for capturing natural and documentary-style wedding moments, this place is a dream come true! Here's why:
1. Picture-Perfect Beauty: The Old Marylebone Town Hall is an absolute stunner. The architecture is a perfect blend of elegance and charm. From its iconic portico entrance to the grand marble staircase and the beautiful ceremony rooms, you'll be surrounded by classic London elegance. As a wedding photographer, this place is a dream canvas for capturing timeless moments, with so many intimate little corners for making emotive wedding photography. This blog post wouldn’t be complete without a mention of the infamous arched domes that make for the most special photographs. I love using these as a playful backdrop for some small group photos, as well as the classic epically-in-love, freshly-wed couples photos.
2. Staff That Feels Like Family: One of the things that truly sets this place apart is the warm and welcoming staff. They go out of their way to ensure your day is perfect, and they have a knack for keeping couples relaxed, which is so important for helping you to enjoy your big day and take in every moment. Plus, calm and comfortable couples make for fantastic, natural wedding photography.
3. Variety of Room Sizes: Whether you're planning an intimate gathering or a larger celebration, the Old Marylebone Town Hall has you covered. With a variety of ceremony rooms, you can choose the one that perfectly suits your guest list.
4. Fantastic Reception Options: You are truly in one of the best spots for nearby reception venues with iconic hotels like The Landmark a few minutes walk away. Mayfair is a hub of London's finest hotels and restaurants, so you're spoilt for choice. Whether you want a cozy, intimate dinner or a full blown all-night-long party, there's something for everyone just a stone's throw away.
5. Quaint Cobblestone Streets and Gorgeous Parks: For a wedding photographer like me, it's all about finding those picturesque spots for couple photographs. Old Marylebone Town Hall is a treasure trove for that! The cobbled streets and nearby parks provide a perfect backdrop for capturing your love in its purest form.
