Kate & Chris’ Ashley Wood Farm Wedding – A Laid-Back Love Fest with One Hell of a Party!
When two of your friends ask you to be their wedding photographer, you know it’s going to be something special. Kate & Chris—partners in crime at Shambala Festival, fellow house party dancefloor warriors, and now, officially, husband and wife—pulled off the most epic wedding at Ashley Wood Farm, and I was beyond stoked to capture it all.
The Perfect Venue for the Ultimate Party
Ashley Wood Farm is one of those venues that just gets it right—rustic charm, dreamy gardens, and a barn that was basically made for late-night revelry. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect for Kate & Chris, who wanted a day that felt relaxed, fun, and, most importantly, very *them*.
From a Childhood Race to ‘I Do’
Let’s talk about the moment that had everyone reaching for the tissues. Turns out, these two didn’t actually meet on a dating app a few years back like they thought. While flicking through old childhood photos in the lead-up to the wedding, they discovered they’d *actually* met decades ago—as kids, running in the same race! Not only that, but there’s a photo of them, side by side, mid-sprint, totally oblivious to the fact that their future selves would be standing side by side at the altar. If that’s not fate, I don’t know what is.
The Ceremony – Sun, Vows & Confetti
With the sun shining, these two exchanged the most heartfelt vows in an outdoor ceremony that had everyone grinning (and a few wiping away tears). The confetti moment in front of the barn? Absolute gold.
Prosecco, Platters & That Mediterranean Feast
No one went hungry at this wedding—Kate & Chris made sure of that. The drinks reception saw prosecco flowing freely (as it should) before everyone sat down to an absolute feast courtesy of Indulge. Think long wooden tables, huge sharing platters, and the kind of Mediterranean dishes that make your mouth water.
Speeches That Had Us Laughing & Crying
Chris’s sisters absolutely stole the show with their speech, revealing the whole childhood-race-meet-cute story. Add to that a few heartfelt toasts, a couple of perfectly timed roasts, and a beautiful thank you speech from the bridge & groom, and you’ve got a killer speech lineup.
Golden Hour Magic by the Lake
As the sun started dipping, we snuck off for some portraits by the lake. That golden-hour light, Kate’s effortlessly cool wedding style, and Chris looking like he’d just stepped out of a GQ editorial… absolute magic.
The Shingalings & a Dancefloor That Wouldn’t Quit
If there’s one thing I knew for sure about this wedding, it was that the party would be *wild*. And the Shingalings did *not* disappoint. A band Kate & Chris had discovered in Bristol, they had everyone—*everyone*—on their feet. I lost count of how many times I nearly got taken out by a rogue dance move, but that’s just the mark of a great night, right?
